Does God Weep?

Does God weep?  I'm certain that He does.  The Bible tells us that Jesus wept on a couple of occasions - one when His good friend, Lazarus, died, and another when He looked out over Jerusalem knowing the destruction that would come upon them.

So what do you think would make God weep today?  Ahhh, where do I begin?  

For starters, scrolling through the usual Facebook posts of friends, colleagues and people I don't even think I've met, I was stunned at a headline news article that read,  "Kill your Baby for Free Day" Sees Dozens Slaughtered.  Seriously?  When we destroy the unborn like it was nothing more than removing an unwanted wart...God weeps.

Or what about the bands of people in the streets of middle eastern countries, burning, shooting, killing and abusing people they don't even know, for a religion and a god that promotes violence and fear?  God weeps.

How about a wife and mother who stands next to her husband's casket to say a final goodbye as his comrades from every police department in the nation look on?  God weeps.

 What about the squabbling and bickering, lying and conniving going on behind the scenes and in the national spotlight between Presidential candidates and their followers?  God weeps.

 Could He possibly be grieved over our acceptance and celebration of perverted relationships, our broken marriages, abandoned children, diseased bodies and inflated egos?  For sure, God weeps.

Yet, there's still time.  Time for me and you to stand up for what is right.  Time to change our mindset and line it up with His Word.  Time to teach our children the importance of integrity, honesty and love.  Time to give of ourselves and out of our own surplus to those in need.  To shine a little bit of Jesus to those who are surrounded by darkness. Time to make God...smile. 

How about it?  Does God weep?  You bet.  But He doesn't have to.  Not if each of us take time to do our part in the center of the world He has placed us in.
