Gun Control is Not the Answer....Jesus Is!

I want to start off by saying how deeply saddened I was to hear of the shooting in a Charleston, South Carolina church.  Tragic.  Unfathomable.  Maddening.

My heart hurt as I thought of the deep-seated anger inside of the young shooter....the pain in those who were left to clean up the carnage.

Of course now, as has been in various other tragic shooting situations, our President is calling for gun control.  It is almost a broken record coming out of the Washington bureaucrat.

When will they learn that criminals do not abide by man-made rules?  When will he wake up to the fact that gun ownership does not create a tragedy....sin does.

If a person is hell bent on destroying another human being, he or she will find whatever means to do so.  Gun, knife, baseball bat, screwdriver, pencil, etc...people will find a way to harm others whether guns are readily available or not.

Likewise, our forefathers set out in writing a necessary privilege for U.S. citizens to protect themselves through the 2nd Amendment.  Imagine how differently the outcome, had someone in that Bible study group last night held a concealed carry?  What if there would have been a security plan in place?  How different would it have been to have an armed security officer on the premises.  How different...

Yet here we are again.  Another tragic event caused by a young man with a heart of darkness.

The Bible reminds us in 1 Peter 5:8 to be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

A gun problem did not kill these men and women.  A sinful heart, full of rage, driven by an unseen enemy did.  Sin destroys...kills...tears apart...leaves in waste.

Yet, we have an anchor that holds strong.  We can be overcomers of tragedies like this one, not because we abandoned our freedoms, but because we had the fortitude enough to turn to God and become a repentant nation on its knees.

Mr. President....we don't need gun control.  We need Jesus!   #PrayersforCharleston
