Amid the Recent Suicides of Famous People, God Still Loves!!
I was reading this morning about the suicide of well-known chef and world traveler, Anthony Bourdain. This coming on the heels of yet another suicide of a famous person--Kate Spade, fashion designer.
I want to be so careful with my words here, as I have friends who have experienced suicide of a loved one, and have witnessed the extreme sadness and pain tragic situations like that bring.
Yet I want to point out a few things:
1. Suicide is no respecter of persons. Even famous people--those who seem to have everything at their fingertips can experience hurt, loneliness, emptiness, etc.
The Bible tells us in John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
2. Every one of us on this planet is going to die, whether by natural causes, disease, accident, evil actions by another, or yes, sadly, even suicide.
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:27, "And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment."
3. The human heart recognizes the fact that there should be something "more" to life than just that of our own making.
The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT), "He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end."
Here's where it gets real. Hang with me.
God's love never changes. Repeat that to yourself. God's love never changes!
When we can't feel God; see Him; or even understand if He is real...God still loves.
When we are so desperate for answers and our whole insides feel as if they are crumbling...God still loves.
When our sin has blinded our path and we cannot find the way out...God still loves.
When it feels as if God has turned His back on us and the darkness is closing in...God still loves.
He has loved you from the beginning, and He will love you to the end!
He has stood by your side in the darkest of times and has never left.
It is US who turn away! It is US who deny His existence. It is US who gives the enemy power to destroy our lives...yet God still loves!
I don't know what these two people were going through. I cannot say for sure what their struggles were, but what I do know because of what the Bible tells me, is that God was there the whole time! God loved them! He created them in their mother's womb. He knew every hair on their head--every thought in their mind, and He said through His Word, "Here, I've made a way. Come to me, you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest!"
I pray that they made that decision to follow Him. I pray that in their final moments they put their trust in Him and ran into His loving arms. But as for us now, we pray for their families and we examine our own hearts and minds to see if we have the peace that passes all understanding--His name is Jesus.
If you haven't made that decision to follow Him--if you haven't put your trust in Him, know this...HE STILL LOVES and He wants to have a relationship with you today!
If you want to know more, please message me. I'd love the pleasure of sharing my Jesus with you.
Blessings,
Kristi
