Cracks in the Pavement: Letting God's Light Shine Through

Rick and I were taking a walk late yesterday afternoon.  It was so refreshing to be able to get outside and not sweat.  Surprisingly, I even had a jacket on!

As we were hoofing it around the bend, I noticed all the cracks in the pavement.  Through those cracks, and in some of the most obscure and harshest of surroundings, were thriving green foliage.

I thought about that as I walked.  How many times in life does the Lord bring beauty out of ashes, growth out of hard surroundings?  Probably too many for us to count. His grace never fails.

It is often through the hard moments - those agonizing instances when there seems to be no possible way, that He lovingly breaks apart the hard outer covering of whatever holds us back, and allows His light to shine through.  We stretch and grow up through the opening of fresh possibility and bask in His glorious light, just as that foliage had grown through the cracks of the pavement.

Today, my sweet friend, if you are feeling burdened or hindered by what life is throwing at you, remember these four simple truths:

1. God loves you greatly.  The Bible says, "For GREAT is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave." Psalm 86:13 (emphasis added)

2.  He desires a relationship with you.  "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me."  Revelation 3:20 (This verse refers to the Laodiceans in the book of Revelation, but also holds true to Christ's desire for a relationship with each of us.)

3. Because of His great love for you, He paid the price for your eternal salvation.  "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  Romans 5:8

4. He has a plan for your life and will not fail you.  "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you,' declares the LORD." Jeremiah 29:11-14a

I don't know about you, but I am thankful for the cracks in my life.  They are a vibrant illustration of God's power and love.

God bless!
Kristi

  2. Thank you, friend. It is truly miraculous how those flowers make it through the pavement, but also how God gets us through the pain. Blessings to you!
