Baltimore Officers, Stand Strong!
There is an old scripture passage that says, "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."
Unfortunately, the atrocities that happened in Ferguson are now playing out in Baltimore, and my guess is until the Lord returns, will continue to play out over and over throughout our country.
As I read the headlines and the fear-filled posts on various social media accounts, I am sickened by the mentality of not only the thugs that are acting no more progressive than neanderthals, to the politicians who are putting our law enforcement, other first responders and general public at risk, so they may prove a point.
Clearly what we are seeing in society is a breakdown of humanity. Instead of respectful dialogue and problem solving within the proper channels, we now resort to acting and reacting even more grossly negligent than those they accuse.
If it wasn't so disgusting and harmful to those I choose to stand behind, it would be quite comical to watch the ignorance of humanity making a mockery of God-given, God-ordained authority.
However, instead of focusing on the ugliness of sinful behavior, I will choose instead to encourage those who hold the line.
Men and women of the thin blue line in Baltimore...stand strong!
Though we are miles apart, many prayers surround you. When you are weary and worn and you feel as if you cannot make it another second or another shift, know there are those out here who love and appreciate you and your service to your community and country. You do make a difference!
There have been many hate-filled slurs screamed in your faces, but millions more positive ones being whispered on your behalf to the One who has given you the authority to do what you do - keep peace.
When evil stares you in the face, look back with confidence knowing that you are living out a calling in which God has entrusted you. You do not bear the sword for nothing.
For the many officers who have been injured at the hands of the ignorant, fight with all that you have to come back to your families...whole, healthy and strong. You are needed and loved.
To the men and women who lead these brave warriors on the front line, lead with integrity and wisdom. Let them see that you will stand behind them, beside them, and for them. You have an important roll and the world is watching. Seek God's direction as you go forward. He will not lead you astray.
For all the wives, husbands, children, moms, dads and extended family of these fine ones, put your fears in God's hands. Turn and let Him comfort you and hide you away from the enemy and all his evil tactics. Remember this verse and stand on its principles, "He alone is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will never be shaken."
No matter what news you receive, what terror fills the night, know that with God you are surrounded by a mighty fortress. In Him, you will not loose your footing.
Finally, to everyone else who is supportive of our thin blue line, pray...speak up...show your support, and, as you lay your head on your pillow tonight, remember those who will not sleep for days, fight evil on your behalf, and who will later battle demons within the darkest recesses of their minds.
These are America's finest.
Blessings to you all. Stay strong. Prayers with Baltimore.

Wonderful, supportive words. I'm married to a retired LEO, NYPD and Federal, and I've been so upset by what the officers have been subjected to that I can't watch the news. As it is I have to hear my husband getting angry at the news shows he watches. It's not bad enough that he experienced similar dangers back in the day; now we are reliving it., even as we pray for the Officers and their families.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Judy. Please let your husband know how much his previous service is appreciated. Stay strong and keep praying.
