What Do You Do When the World Has Gone Crazy?

Everyday that I turn on the television, I am astounded by the quickening pace of crazy running loose on this planet.  Believe me, being married to a cop also gives a fresh, first-hand account.

Wild fires are destroying whole cities while hurricane rains drench others.  A heat wave has stalled out over the midwest causing severe drought, crop ruin, and escalating tempers.

Our government has lost touch with reality and movie stars are treated as gods.  War continues to ravage third-world countries, and madmen cut off the heads of those who oppose their agenda.  So what in the world are we to do?!   Take a hot bubble bath and eat a box of chocolates, right?  Nah!  We definitely don't need extra cargo on the waistline to go along with everything else.  We've got something much better.

In the book of John in the New Testament, Chapter 14, beginning in verse 1, Jesus said to his disciples, "Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God; trust also in me.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."   A few chapters over he continues with, "In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world."

Wow!  Those words bring me such peace and contentment.  Jesus was telling his followers (and us) that there are going to be times that are difficult to understand and hard to swallow.  However, He is our rock.  It is in Him that we find our solace in the midst of chaos.  Jesus overcame the world by dying on the cross for my sins and yours.  He broke sin's grip and loosened our chain of bondage and now sits at the right hand of God in the place He has prepared for those who love and follow him...a place of peace and eternal joy.

If we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, He will walk us through any storm we face and He becomes the peace that surrounds us.  Trouble will find us just as sure as rain...well...maybe not rain, since we aren't having any; sure as death and taxes.  Yet, take heed, friend.  God is still in control and He has overcome it all!

When the world has gone crazy, turn to the Savior!

God bless,
Kristi
