Need to Get Away?

Would you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?

I am a total introvert. That doesn't mean that I can't stand and speak in front of a huge crowd of people or enjoy a good social setting, but it does mean that at some point, I'm going to physically, mentally and emotionally need time alone.

Jesus was a people person. He came to earth to love on, encourage, strengthen, heal and save people. But, He also needed time alone.

Recently I was studying about how Jesus had just learned of his cousin, John the Baptist's, untimely death, and he got in a boat and went to the other side of the lake in order to get away from the crowds...to just get away.

In this case, He was grieving. We often forget that Jesus was fully God, fully man. We forget that He felt and feels emotions just like we do.

He needed time alone; to talk with His Father and to grieve, yet the crowds found Him. He was the only One who could meet their needs both physically and spiritually.

We need to remember Jesus' example. We don't have to be grieving in order to get alone with God. It should be an every day experience for us, even if it's just a few minutes.

You and I need that outpouring of our hearts, but even more so, the in pouring of God's holy presence.

In making time for these sweet moments, you and I will be re-fueled, re-charged, and ready to meet the needs that demand our time and attention.

So, what are you waiting for?  Go find that quiet place!

Blessings!
